Everyone should have the freedom to make personal decisions about their health care with their doctor, without political interference.
In Florida, House Bill 5 restricts abortion after 15 weeks. It prevents people from getting an abortion and threatens to imprison doctors for providing necessary care for their patients.
Two-thirds of Floridians already support the right to abortion care, and voters have consistently cast their ballot to ensure individual freedom to make medical decisions. By eliminating access to abortion care, politicians are putting Floridians at risk of life-altering consequences, including enduring serious health risks from continued pregnancy and childbirth, derailing education, career, and life plans, and making it more difficult to leave an abusive partner.
To demonstrate what’s at stake, we called for stories from people who have had abortions — people of all genders, ages, faiths, and socioeconomic backgrounds — to tell us why abortion should be a fundamental right.
